
Is a 50-year mortgage really that much crazier than a 30-year one?

Booth's Eric Zwick, the Joel F. Gemunder Professor of Economics and Finance and Charles E. Merrill Faculty Scholar, argues that there may not be a huge difference in the typical 30 year mortgage, and the newly proposed, seemingly radical, 50 year mortgage. Making monthly costs less daunting over a longer period is one of the reasons mentioned.
