Unfinished Business: Dean Rajan Appointed to Historic Third Term

Published on October 26, 2026

Two years from now, Madhav Rajan will become the longest-serving dean of Chicago Booth since 1945.

That milestone is not lost on Rajan, the Steven S. Wymer Dean and Distinguished Service Professor of Accounting, who came to Booth from Stanford in 2017 and has led the school through a period of record fundraising, significant endowment growth, and major increases in scholarship funding. He also spearheaded the school’s first new degree programs in nearly 90 years—the Master in Management and the Asness and Liew Master in Finance—all while, for the past year, taking on an additional role as UChicago’s chief global strategist.

Read about his history, background, and plans for the future in this article from the Chicago Booth website.
